This will be held in The Ocean Room which has a stunning views of the South Bay of historically England’s first seaside resort. A capacity of 600 and surely one of the best venues in the country
7pm to 2am with guests Yocky, Kev Bainbridge, Graham Slater, Mort,(making his farewell appearance as a DJ) Scarborough’s very own Jinx, Mike Charlton, plus regular Jox Mick and Ade

A belated happy new year and welcome to this, the last ever 99 Soul Club newsletter. May we first of all thank everyone who attended the Soul Splash in November, a night which has been very well received judging by many comments we have received. Thanks also to those who helped market the event across the country and in Scarborough itself ensuring we had our biggest ever turnout.
As some of you may already know we have decided to bring the 99 Soul Club to a close after 10 fantastic years. Suffice there are several reasons for the decision which collectively lead us to believe this is the appropriate time to call it a day. Whether we promote “one-off” events in the future remains to be seen but there are none planned for this year and the 99 Soul Club name will not feature in any future promotions.
The 99 Soul Club journey started back on Saturday 13th February 1999 on the North Bay at The Corner a venue which holds many fond memories. There followed a brief interlude in the town centre at The Grand (frankly a less memorable venue) and will now end on the South bay at the magnificent Scarborough Spa Complex. We hope to bow out in style with a 10th Anniversary celebration, SOUL SPLASH 2 which will be held in the Spa Ocean Room on Saturday 18th July (7pm to 2am). Just to clarify this is the larger of the two rooms used at the first Soul Splash and with a capacity of 600 it will provide a great setting for our farewell event.
Our guests for this event have all been supporters of ours over the years as DJ’s, punters, or both. Kev Bainbridge who was on our very first roster back in February 1999, Mike Charlton one of those behind the successful inaugural Soul Splash last year, the ever popular Mort who is hanging up his records on the night and is deserving of a great send off. In addition two of Yorkshire’s finest in Yocky and Graham Slater. Last but not least, Jinx a real stalwart of the Scarborough soul scene.
Advanced tickets are £6. For locals they are on sale from the Spa Box Office, the Tourist Information centre in the Brunswick Centre in Scarborough or from The Beat Club events held at the Corporation Club on Dean Road in Scarborough (see dates below or contact askbeatclub@yahoo.com). Tickets will also be available on the night for £8 subject to capacity but please note there is no admission after midnight. For those outside the town, please refer ticket requests and other enquiries to the contact numbers below.
Finally sincere thanks to everyone for attending our events and to those who have helped us behind the scenes especially Mick’s good lady Lynne a vital cog in the wheel for the last 10 years!!
